Letters and parcels to EU countries - how it works after 1 July

On 1 July 2021, the VAT rules for e-commerce from third countries to EU-countries will change, meaning that all merchandise, regardless of value, must be cleared by customs. Your casual and standing orders will be shipped from Åland exclusive of VAT, exactly as previously.

Åland Post will continue to automatically collect VAT on deliveries to Finland and Norway according to current VAT rules.

Since Åland does not form part of the EU VAT territory, your delivery must be cleared through customs and VAT will be levied. The procedures for custom clearance vary in each EU country. For more information, please contact the post or the customs authorities in your country.

Deliveries to other countries outside of the EU are not affected.
