PostEurop tävling vackraste europafrimärke 2020

The annual vote of PostEurop for the most beautiful 2020 Europa stamp opened on 9 May, the Europe Day. The 2020 theme is ancient postal routes, and with the Europa stamps of this year, you can make a journey through Europe on well-known as well as historic routes that were used for the conveyance of mail once upon a time. Take part, you too, and vote for your favourite motif.

Stamp enthusiasts or lovers of history; Åland Post and PostEurop invite you to join us on a journey to rediscover the old postal routes and, at the same time, to cast your vote on your favourite stamp in order to choose the most beautiful 2020 Europa stamp.

Issued on 8 May, the Åland Europa stamp commemorates the historically important postal route across the Sea of Åland. The stamp photo was shot at the Postal Boat Race which is arranged in remembrance of the arduous conveyance of mail and the hardships of the postal peasants as they carried the mail between Sweden and Åland for almost 400 years.  The postal route across Åland to Finland opened in 1638, and the route between Grisslehamn in Sweden and Eckerö in Åland would later be known as one of the most dangerous in the world.
