7 May sees Åland Post’s issue of four postal stationery cards that celebrate spring. “I was inspired by the Åland Spring Fair that highlights small-scale farming, sustainability, local cooking and crafts – a wonderful theme,” Swedish illustrator Anna Handell tells us. Postage to the entire world is included in the price of the cards.
Illustrator Anna Handell informs us: “The receiver of a card should, in some way, be able to relate to its image even before reading the message on the back. So, I liked the idea of creating a warm and inviting atmosphere with harmonious colours and a coherent style.”
On the theme Spring verdure, the four cards were inspired by the Åland Spring Fair, which takes place around Åland the last weekend of May and highlights local delicacies of the spring season. The Fair has been arranged since 2015 by the association Skördefestens Vänner (i.e. Friends of the Harvest Festival), which also arranges the very popular Åland Harvest Festival.
Postage is included in the price of the cards which may therefore be posted from Åland to any destination in the world without additional postage. The postage-paid symbols on the address side of the cards relate to the decorative motif of each card.
